Mediation is a voluntary, private way to settle disputes through a cooperative, problem-solving process. It is an alternative to litigation, which is often bitter, divisive and expensive.
My name is Steve Natran. I am a Registered Social Worker in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. Through the Alberta Arbitration & Mediation Society {AAMS} I have completed coursework that allows me to offer my services as a mediator.
My practical experience as a mediator has been through the Civil Claims Mediation Project which started in January of 1998. This project is one of many in North America that used mediation as an alternative to individuals going to Small Claims Court. It has been very successful and I believe that the skills that a mediator brings to the table are what have made this project a resounding success. Effective September 1, 1999 the Civil Claims Mediation Project will be a permanent program of the Provincial Court, Civil Division.
I am a member of the AAMS, the ACSW (Alberta College of Social Workers)and I am a Commissioner of Oaths in and for the Province of Alberta.
